Re: Herefordshire CCG GP Practice services, Community Health and Care Engagement
I am writing to notify the Parish Council of Herefordshire Clinical Commissioning Group’s public engagement activities into community health and GP practice services in your area.
The purpose of this engagement process is to hear about people’s experiences of community health and care services and to discuss how they would like to see these services develop in the future. This includes primary care, district nursing, therapies, minor injuries provision and community hospitals. The Clinical Commissioning Group in Herefordshire is responsible for buying healthcare for people across the County so we are keen to ensure that Town and Parish Councils, local voluntary sector and community organisations and the general public are all given the opportunity to engage in this discussion.
We know that you are aware that all of our services are under significant pressure, whether they are provided through the statutory sector or through voluntary and community organisations. We need to ensure that our resources are used effectively and that we support our partners and local communities to work together to ensure that the best possible care is made available within the resources that we have. We are likely to have to make difficult choices in the future about how care is provided to support our ageing and geographically dispersed population in Herefordshire and we want to ensure that we have a sound basis for doing this. The CCG has been working with the Local Authority and our key providers of care: Wye Valley NHS Trust, Taurus Federation (representing all of our GP practices), and 2gether NHS Foundation Trust, to develop proposals for how community and primary care services should develop in the future. These proposals are at an early stage and all of the partners are keen to work with local communities to ensure that the model of health and care meets the needs of the local population.
We would like to bring to your attention our events scheduled for September/ October 2017 (please see end of this letter) and the on-line survey (available at www.herefordshireccg.nhs.uk). You can see the results of the engagement process so far by looking at the CCG’s website and this will be updated as more events happen.
If local groups, including Parish Councils, would like to invite a representative from the CCG to attend a meeting during September or October, please contact the CCG on the following number, 01432 260618. We would like to hear your Parish Council’s views on local health provision. Results of the public engagement will be used to inform our proposals for the future model of community provision and any subsequent consultation relating to these proposals.
